Narrative Section Of The Music Video
My section of the music video was the narrative where me and my group had to construct a storyline that followed Todorov theory, it had to have the following; Equilibrium- the beginning of the music video,a Disruption-something out of the ordinary happening in this case it would be when the homeless man gets caught in the music video, Realisation- when they realise the problem caused, in the music video it would be when the homeless man realises he took something that he shouldn't have, and also when he starts running away from what he has done, Restored Order- this is when they try to put things right, in the music video this would be when the homeless man and the home owner fights and then put there differences aside and try to become friends,New Equilibrium- when the problem is solved and things are back to normal, in the music video this would be when the homeless man and home owner becomes friend were we see the home owner helping the homeless man up.

Style and Conventions of Music Videos
Genre Music Video: HipHop
A genre music video dictates a visual representation of the genre for example in the music video Hard Knock Life by Jay Z at 0:48 he is seen on screen, most hiphop music videos always consist of having the artist on the screen, this works because this allows the audience to see who the artist is and also shows that they are not afraid of what they produce, this makes the audience feel more closer to the artist because they reveal themselves and also because you can visually see them it gives the audience the idea that they know the artist, at 1:07 Jay Z is looking right at the camera which makes the audience feel closer as it looks as though the artist is talking to the audience. If i was to use this in my music video I would keep my artist on screen because i would want the audience to connect and feel as though they can relate to my artist.
Narrative Music Video:
A narrative music video follows Todorvos theory; beginning, middle, end they always use a structure, for example Justin Timberlake what goes around comes around music video follows the same narrative structure as you can see at 0:26 the beginning conveys that everything is fine and good and at 2:29 builds up the tension that leads onto the climatic part which is the middle so something is wrong and 3:31 we see the big climatic part that changes the narrative and at 4:49 we see the end this music video follows the structure well and is clear this works because this makes it easy for the audience to follow, this impacts the audience because the narrative keeps them interested and makes them want to watch what happens in the rest of the music video also a narrative can relate to the audience, in my music video i will very much likely be using a narrative as its a good way of keeping the audience till the very end of the song and works well.
Interpretive Music Video:
An interpretive music video directly matches what's going on in the lyrics, for example My Jeans by Jenna Rose this music video follows the lyrics word for word at 0:18 we see her doing the action she had just sang and this is mimicked through out and the chorus becomes repetitive, this would be done because it conveys that they are doing whatever the lyrics say and putting it into picture by acting it out, the impact on the audience here is that it is clear and easy to follow, in the future i am not to sure wether or not i would use interpretive music video.
Impressionist Music Video:
An impressionist music video is a video that matches the mood and pace of the song but not the lyrics for example Azelaia Banks 212 in this music video 0:16 all we see is the artist on screen singing the lyrics up against a brick wall and thats all no other thing is done also there are times such as at 0:03 we see a shop full of booze and that is the only other location used, in this music video you see a vary of close ups and mid shots to long shots used on just the artist , this works because the music builds up the atmosphere of a catchy song which makes the audience want to watch the video more because they want to see if anything interesting happens, i may use this type of style in my music video because it's easier and is also not a style that is used a lot.
Surrealism/Abstract Music Video:
Surrealism/ Abstract music video is a music video that does not often show the artist , it works because it features an element of suprise, for example Gecko-overdrive this music seems normal at 0:46 but then as the video goes on we get suprised at 2:05 as we something unexpected that makes the audience question whats going on and whats happening, think that this works well because the makes the audience want to watch on more and see what happens, i think that this impacts the audience it makes them think that they want to know what will happen at the end so the element of suprise is hinted at the beginning but then by the end we see a whole new twist, i think that in the future i would use this style in my music video.
Animation Music Video:
animation music video is a music video whereby the video is either animated by a computer software or is done by hand, sometimes it does not need to be animated characters it can also be animates graphics, for example Avicii- The Days only have a graphic music video throughout this is seen and nothing else this is something that some artists would use, with this you don't see the artist at all or sometimes they are seen but not all the time, this works because it conveys that they want the lyrics and song to speak clearer than the visual moving footage, i think this impacts the audience because it makes them read whats on the screen, i think that in the future in my music video i may consider the idea of using animation or even the graphics.
Intertextuality Music Video:
Intertextuality is when one text references another media text for example in Justin Timberlake Love never felt so good, the intertextuality comes from nearly all of Michael Jacksons songs for example at 0:04 the intertextuality comes from beat it and also the dance move being done are all Micheal Jacksons legendary dance move, and also the use of the top hat was also intertextuality form Micheal Jacksons costume, at 0:10 intertextuality from Bad , the clothing worn is referring back to the original outfit worn by Michael Jackson in the song, this is seen throughout the music video, this works because this makes the audience aware of what they are doing , but if you haven't seen the original videos it would appear like a normal music video for you, this impacts the audience as they may already have that knowledge of knowing where the original routine came from, i think that in my music video it would be hard to incorporated intertextuality but i would like to try it out.
Parody Music Video:
Taking the mick out of a music video that takes itself to seriously or it takes the mick out of itself, this also subtly uses intertextuality, for example Robin Thicke Blurr lines this parody was made by Bart baker and in the video it is over exaggerated and it takes the mick out of itself at 0:10 we see them re-create the first shot we see in the original music video and again this is seen throughout the music video, this works well because if the song is popular and annoying a parody cover of the music video will make people laugh about it and also sometime we tend to think about how things could be funnier and a parody does that, i think i would like to try and use the parody style and try and create a humours music video.
Pastiche/Homage Music Video:
A pastiche/homage music video is when you imitate some of the features from another text for example in The Fault in Our Stars- Charlie XCX this song is in the movie The Fault In Our Stars and in the music video 0:09 you see a scene from the movie that features in the video this is again seen at 0:20 where in the music video we see clips from the movie, we also see graphics o the screen, this works well because if the audience has seen the movie they will know the song or if they haven't seen the movie but they have seen the music video it might make them want to see the movie, this impacts the audience as this might draw them in and make them listen to the song then see the film itself, i think this would be difficult to execute in my music video i don't think i would be able to do it.

Performance Music Video:
A performance music video is music video that is aimed to look as though it is being done in front of live audience even though sometimes it is staged like that or sometimes it is actually filmed from a live concert that had happened. In the video below at 0:36 you can see the band performing and audience surrounding them, this performance music video is staged due to the staging of the band and also the mis-en-scene in an old gym hall and also the artificial lighting adds to it giving the video a fake look and when the band is seen again at 0:58 we see the audience again joining in with the song, this makes the audience feel like they want to be there themselves with the band being up close to them listening to them and being able to see them. If i was to use this in my music video i would do it in the exact same style as this has more of an affect on the audience.

Three Music Video
This classic Michael Jackson music video
Thriller is one of the most memorable music video as the costumes used were zombies and the face make up was also done to suit the costumes also the lighting used was natural and artificial which emphasized the theme they were going for and the mise-en-scene used is a telemetry and an empty road which connotes a gloomy feeling also the choreographed routine was original and also something that other people try and re-create.One That I hate:
I hate this music video
specifically because it is unusual and is not pleasing to the eye but they have used a good use of camera shots such as close ups through out the video
and also the lighting they've used is artificial which highlights the movements made and also gives a clear look, also the use of the simple back drop that is used throughout the music video connotes that the movement they are making is being emphasized and also the use of props such as a speaker and a board switcher adds to the music video and conveys
that it controls the video.Current Favorite Music Video:
This is currently my favorite music video because it is vibrant and it uses a lot of angles such as it starts
of with a close up of their feet's then uses a pan to the right to show two people against the wall and also the camera is positioned at different angles such as on its side and it also uses the movement and goes 360 clockwise, also the costumes they have used are simple and smart and they use props such as the old Mercedes Benz, brick phone and sun glasses and hats this connotes that they are trying to set the video in an olden time, also the dance routine is in sync with each other fluent and original.
